planning & conservatory

Disscussions around planning permissons and building regulation requirements.

planning & conservatory

Postby lostinfens » Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:56 pm

I am considering a consevatory to the front of the house and am a bit confused about the "half the area of land around the original dwelling" rule. Does this mean that the whole plot of land upon which the house sits is considered? Our plot is large (about 1.8 acres) and I have built a largish garage & a small extension over the years. The conservatory I'm considering is about 4x4metres.

Hi there,

I assume you are trying to establish whether planning permission might be needed or whether it would be classed as "permitted development"? As it is on the front of the house rather than the back, a planning application will need to be made.
